SAP Cloud and Hybrid Operations Management

SAP Cloud Migration and Stabilization for a Multi-Site Manufacturing Company

For a large-scale manufacturing company operating across multiple locations, Basisci provided technical coordination, cutover planning and post-migration stabilization support during the transition from on-premise SAP systems to a cloud-based operating model.

Project Profile

Industry: Multi-site manufacturing

Work Area: Cloud migration, cutover, technical coordination, stabilization

Delivered Value: Controlled transition, clear responsibility model, stable operations

Initial Situation

The customer’s critical SAP systems were running on in-house infrastructure and were integrated with multiple surrounding systems. Although the decision had been made to move to a cloud-based model, the target architecture, responsibilities, connectivity requirements and go-live steps had not yet been consolidated into a single coordinated plan.

This created a need not only to manage the technical migration steps, but also to clarify connectivity, integration, security and operational responsibilities before the transition.

Basisci’s Approach

Basisci played an active role in current-state analysis, target architecture validation, migration coordination, cutover planning and post-go-live stabilization.

Technical coordination was established between SAP/ECS, the customer’s internal teams and solution partners. The system and integration inventory was reviewed, while network, security and connectivity requirements were validated. A responsibility matrix and cutover plan were prepared, and rehearsal activities were used to review rollback points and operational checkpoints.

After go-live, the hypercare period was supported through monitoring, job, interface and certificate checks.

Results and Business Value

The migration process was managed through a single coordination model. Transition steps, acceptance checks and rollback points were standardized.

After go-live, technical findings were prioritized and the environment was brought into stable operation. The customer team gained better visibility into cloud operations responsibilities, escalation channels and acceptance criteria.

SAP Basis Managed Services

Large-Scale SAP System Copy and Secure QA Refresh

For a high-transaction retail and e-commerce organization, Basisci helped create an up-to-date, secure and repeatable QA refresh process without impacting the production system.

Project Profile

ndustry: Retail and e-commerce

Work Area: SAP system copy, QA refresh, post-copy checks, data security

Delivered Value: Secure test environment, repeatable refresh process, more controlled test management

Initial Situation

Over time, the customer’s QA environment had drifted away from production. Reproducing issues, running regression tests and executing reliable test scenarios had become increasingly difficult.

Previous refresh activities involved many manual post-copy steps. Integration controls and sensitive data checks were largely dependent on individual knowledge. This affected both the reliability of testing and the level of operational control.

Basisci’s Approach

Basisci managed the technical system copy planning and execution, post-copy controls, integration isolation, coordination of data masking with application and security teams, validation activities and handover documentation.

Source and target system readiness was verified. The copy was performed using a supported platform method. Logical systems, RFC/HTTP destinations, jobs, printers, licenses and certificate checks were reviewed.

External connections were disabled using secure defaults. After masking activities, technical and business acceptance tests were performed.

Results and Business Value

The QA environment was refreshed in a controlled way with an up-to-date data structure. Post-copy steps were converted into a reusable runbook.

Connection, job and data security controls became demonstrable and traceable. The realism of testing improved, the risk of moving defects into production was reduced, and a corporate method was established for managing future refresh activities more predictably.

THE BASISCI APPROACH

We Turn Technical Expertise into Manageable Processes

In SAP environments, many issues are not caused only by technical gaps. They often arise from unclear responsibilities, hidden dependencies and transition steps that have not been sufficiently defined.

Basisci combines technical expertise with planning, coordination, risk visibility and operational control. As a result, SAP projects are not only implemented; they become observable, manageable and sustainable.

Strategic SAP Operations Capabilities

Target Architecture Design for Hybrid SAP, BTP and Integration Suite

For a large-scale energy and field services organization, Basisci designed a secure, scalable and auditable hybrid integration architecture around SAP BTP, Cloud Connector and Integration Suite.

Project Profile

Industry: Energy and field services

Work Area: SAP BTP, Cloud Connector, Integration Suite, hybrid architecture, integration governance

Delivered Value: Secure integration standard, reusable architecture, clear responsibility model

Initial Situation

As demand for new cloud applications increased, integrations were mostly designed on a project-by-project and point-to-point basis.

There was no shared architectural standard for traffic flows, authentication, certificate management or operational ownership. This created the risk of inconsistent implementation approaches across projects and ownership ambiguity during operations.

Basisci’s Approach

Basisci worked on the current architecture assessment, target architecture design, definition of traffic flows, Cloud Connector and Integration Suite principles, security controls, HA/DR approach and responsibility model.

Integration and data classes were inventoried. Security zones and required traffic directions were identified. Cloud Connector placement and the high-availability approach were designed.

The certificate and secret lifecycle, monitoring and logging approach, and error management model were defined. A selected flow was used for pilot validation.

Results and Business Value

The project resulted in an approvable reference architecture, clear traffic flows and a RACI model.

Reusable connection, security, monitoring and acceptance patterns were defined for new integrations. The deployment of new digital services became more predictable, while architecture debt, security uncertainty and operational ownership disputes were reduced.

Strategic SAP Operations Capabilities

Independent QA and Cutover Assurance for an SAP Transformation Project

In a large-scale SAP transformation project for a fast-moving consumer goods and distribution company, Basisci provided technical QA, readiness assessment and cutover assurance support before go-live.

Project Profile

Industry: Fast-moving consumer goods and distribution

Work Area: Project QA, cutover assurance, readiness assessment, go/no-go process

Delivered Value: Evidence-based transition decision, reduced project risk, clear risk visibility

Initial Situation

The customer had already prepared the technical transition plan. However, critical decisions, dependencies and closure evidence were distributed across different teams.

Test exit criteria, rollback plans and go/no-go inputs were not available in a single management view. As a result, there was a need for an independent quality and risk assessment before go-live.

Basisci’s Approach

Basisci carried out independent technical QA, architecture and plan reviews, readiness gates, rehearsal observation, risk register management, finding closure tracking and evidence-based input for the decision board.

The scope and design baseline were reviewed. Roles and dependencies were validated. Test and defect exit criteria were checked. Backup, recovery and rollback steps were reviewed.

Dress rehearsal and cutover sequencing were assessed, while war room, escalation and acceptance evidence were prepared.

Results and Business Value

Critical risks were prioritized in a single register. Each finding was assigned an owner, target date and closure evidence.

The go/no-go assessment became independent of technical progress statements and more traceable. Management gained a shared risk view that helped reduce last-minute surprises, while the go-live decision was supported by clear responsibilities and verified acceptance criteria.

SAP Security, Identity and Access Governance

SAP SSO, Certificate and Trust Lifecycle Transformation

For a financial services organization, SAP GUI and web access processes were transformed into a more secure, user-friendly and auditable identity and access model.

Project Profile

Industry: Financial services

Work Area: SAP SSO, SNC, certificates, trust, authentication, access management

Delivered Value: Secure access, reduced operational risk, auditable identity management

Initial Situation

User access was largely password-based, while certificate and trust renewals depended on manual tracking by different teams.

Authentication responsibilities for SAP GUI, web access and technical users had not been clearly separated within a consistent model. This created challenges for both user experience and the auditability of access processes.

Basisci’s Approach

Basisci managed identity and access analysis, SNC-based SSO design for SAP GUI, a federation approach for web access, PSE/trust and certificate lifecycle planning, pilot implementation, security testing and operational handover.

User and technical account flows were separated. Directory, DNS, time synchronization and required trust relationships were validated. SNC and web identity federation were tested in a controlled pilot.

A certificate inventory, renewal calendar, monitoring approach and escalation process were established.

Results and Business Value

Password dependency in user access was reduced. Certificate and trust processes became manageable through a shared inventory, ownership model and renewal calendar.

Monitoring and audit evidence were standardized. As the user experience improved, the operational risk caused by forgotten passwords and expired certificates was reduced. Access management became more auditable and sustainable.
